Runway Usage

Runway 11 is the preferred runway due to the prevailing eastern winds in the Dutch Caribbean.

Standard Instrument Departures

Every plane that is RNAV capable shall receive an RNAV SID. When no SID is available to the first waypoint, ATC shall assign the AMIPU (RWY 11) or SATEX (RWY 29) departure. Alternatively, radar vectors to the first waypoint may be given. SIDs can be recognized by the following letters:

  • RNAV SID 11 - K
  • VOR SID 11- J
  • RNAV SID 29 - M
  • VOR SID 29 - L

Noise Abatement Procedures

Departures from runway 11 will make an immediate compulsory left turn out unless otherwise instructed. When cleared for a right turn, maintain runway heading until FL030.

Altitudes

All IFR flights shall receive FL140 as their initial climb. Curaçao Approach can clear planes to a maximum of FL140 before transferring them to the next sector.

Standard Arrival Routes

Every plane that is RNAV capable shall be cleared for an RNAV STAR. When no STAR is available from the entry waypoint, ATC shall give a DIRECT to the IAF of one of the instrument approaches. Alternatively, radar vectors may be given. STARs can be recognized by the following letters:

  • RNAV SID 11 - B
  • RNAV SID 29 - D

Instrument Approaches

ILS Runway 11 is the preferred instrument approach. Planes shall receive a DIRECT to the appropriate IAF or receive radar vectors to intercept the localizer. The following instrument approaches are available at TNCC:

Visual Flight Rules

A flight plan is mandatory for all VFR flights out of TNCC.
